UUCT’s new DRE, Alessandra Nysether-Santos, is off to a really good start identifying areas that need immediate attention and setting goals for the next few months. These include:
- Update registration forms and records
- Confirm and expand the background check completion list for all persons working with children and youth at UUCT
- Incentivizing the volunteer program
- Develop consistent RE offerings for ages under 5 years (Nursery), 5-12 years (Elementary) and 13+ years Youth, primarily after Sunday Services
Seasonal events that are underway include the September 3rd Blessing of Backpacks, the Halloween Trick or Trunk, the Intergenerational Service with David Novak, and the Winter Fest.
Until the Board Secretary position can be filled (most likely, early 2024), volunteers are providing technical support, notetaking, and writing the Meridian articles. Volunteers are identified on a month-by-month basis.
The Board meetings are open to all who wish to attend and/or participate. It was decided that the ZOOM link to the Board meetings will be published in the electronic Sunday newsletter to better facilitate this participation. The same link is used each month.
At the GLOW meeting on August 20th, the COM/Leadership Development Team agreed to take the lead for offering basic training in ZOOM, Google Docs, My Docs, etc. for all members of the Congregation who want to develop better skills in these areas. It is hoped that this will enable more active participation across all ministries of our church.
Items Discussed That Require Follow-Up
- The Annual Board Retreat – waiting until Rev. E.N. Hill arrives
- Governance Structure and Resulting By-Laws, MPP Revisions
- Rental Agreements and Fee Structures, Liability, Insurance
