We invite the congregation to consider adopting a policy to annually withdraw a set percentage of the Endowment Fund to be divided among the Annual Operating Budget, Capital Improvement, and Social Justice.
- The percentage will be set at 4%, based on the average balance over the past three years.
For example, the withdrawal for 2025-26 based on 4% of the average balance over the past three fiscal years would be $49,555
- How would the funds be shared?
Annual Operating Budget 50% $24,777.50
Capital Improvement 30% $14,866.50
Social Justice 20% $ 9,911.00
What if the 50% for the annual budget is not sufficient?
Reduce operating budget expenses; increase percent for the operating budget and limit social justice and capital improvement; and/or approve additional Endowment Fund withdrawal.
- How will the use of the Capital Improvement fund be determined?
The Capital Improvement Committee develops a long-term plan. Each year specific projects are targeted. Maintenance/repair are included in the operating budget and emergencies are paid from the Reserve Fund.
- How will the expenditures of the Social Justice Fund be determined?
The Social Justice Committee develops procedures to determine how the money will be expended. The Share the Plate program continues, and CAJM is funded in the operating budget.
- Where will the funds be placed?
Withdrawals for Capital Improvement and Social Justice will be placed in short-term restricted funds. Money not expended will roll over Money for the operating budget is withdrawn at the end of the fiscal year.
- How do we make this happen?
The use of the funds begins with the 2026-27 fiscal year. The Plan is reevaluated in 3-5-year cycles.
