Every Sunday, UU members greet us as we arrive. They give us the morning’s order of service. If we are visiting, they invite us to sign the guest register. Later, these same greeters will “pass the plate.” They help each of us feel welcomed and included, and glad to be together.

As you read this, are you imagining the folx who greet you at the sanctuary doors? These statements also describe the online greeters who support our remote participation.

Online greeters create a welcoming presence for the Vimeo livestream. Greeters encourage participation by providing relevant links in the chat. They also help alert the in-person tech team to any issues with the livestream. After the service, a greeter hosts the online Zoom social time. BYOC; bring your own coffee (or tea)!
