Collaboration is in the air, and we all know that’s a good thing. With politics heavy in the air these recent days it isn’t at all surprising that the UUA is partnering with Common Ground for their Reclaim the Vote (ROV) post carding effort. You’ve already heard about this in announcements from the pulpit and seen the sign-up sheet out on the veranda. In a nutshell, postcards can be ordered now and picked up mid-August to be filled out with a pre-determined script and ultimately mailed on October 1st .
So, what does this have to do with collaboration with our small group ministries here at UUCT. Well, we’re planning two postcard writing parties with two active groups here at UUCT. One will occur on August 20th in conjunction with the Arts, Music, Mocktails, and Principle (AMMP) group in room L (actual primary voting will be going on in our sanctuary) and the other will occur on Sept. 8th in conjunction with the Food for Thought group. What this means is that each group will expand its activities during that meeting to accommodate a concurrent post card writing party along with their normal program activities. Specifically, for AMMP, this means they can add another P to their acronym to form AMMPP with the trailing P standing for post carding. The principle(s) focused on at that gathering will likely be Justice and Transformation as they relate to elections. What this means for the Food for Thought group is that not only food and climate will be on the plate for discussion but also politics when they too host concurrent space for a post carding party for the November election.
Should be great fun for all, so mark your calendars, acquire your packet of postcard and come to the party!
