Hello friends and happy August!
I cannot believe it’s been a year since I moved to Tallahassee! I am so grateful to the UUCT community for the ways you have supported and encouraged my work. I hit the ground running in August of 2023, and while I had to learn some important lessons about pace and sustainability, I’m so happy about all the awesome stuff we did. In fact, it was a bit of a blur, so let’s recap with a fun question…
TRIVIA: Which ONE of these MANY things did we NOT do this 2023-2024 church year? The answer is at the bottom of this page!
- Blessing of the Backpacks
- Banned Book Week
- Trunk or Treat
- Winter Giving Project
- Christmas Eve Pageant
- Youth Con at UUCT
- Bridging Ceremony
- Mini Harmony Camp
- Blessing of the Turkeys
- Met J. Piglet the JETPIG
And that’s not even all we did last year (except for that one silly thing we didn’t do)! It makes me very excited about this coming church year.
Things get unofficially started with back-to-school: I’m leading a multigen service for the Blessing of the Backpacks on Sunday, 8/18. Students and teachers of all ages are invited to bring a backpack, device bag, or notebook to be blessed by our UUCT community during a Multi-Generational Service. Participants on Vimeo are invited to participate as well for a long-distance blessing!
The official Fall 2024 RE Kickoff is on Sunday 9/8, the week after the Ingathering and Water Communion Service.
Are you excited about supporting Youth RE this year? We will have a Fall-Planning Coffee and Tea with the DRE Meeting sometime at the end of August. The date will be determined by volunteer availability. Let me know if you want to get on the volunteer list!
In addition to volunteers, we need childcare staff! I am hiring Childcare Providers. Interested folks should apply by 8/14 using the UUCT Application.
In Adult RE news, Date with Death Club is coming back for a Fall series! We will have a schedule available soon and all are welcome to join.
That’s all for now!
TRIVIA ANSWER: I. Blessing of the Turkeys never happened… yet.
Here’s to making the best of the rest of this too-hot summer!
