Message from the Board President: Building Our Community Together

Do you want to live your best life? Do you want to give it your all?  Do you want to pursue your passions?  Do you want to strengthen your community and live a more fulfilled life with others?  Guess what? We can do it together.  What are we here for at UUCT?  We are here for each other.

But first, you have to know what you want.  Think it through, and then go with your gut. Be ready to try something and then be ready to try something different.

So decide away! Pick something fun that you feel passionate about or something you want to dip your toes into. In this community, there is a lot of wisdom to be shared and love to be shown. Good news! You have a full, loving, and diverse community ready to be with you throughout your journey.  In order to make this work, you have to be ready to trust the person next to you.  Trust that they are doing the best they can.  Give others as much grace as you strive to give yourself.

Second, you have to find out if someone else is already working toward a passion similar to yours at UUCT – if so, join them.  Or do you need to start your own group within the church?  It’s that simple.  Find your passion.  Find out if we already have it going.  If not, get it started.

After you truly meditate on who you want to be and what you want to do, I recommend checking out our event calendar online, https://www.uutallahassee.org/events/, to see if we offer something that aligns with your path.  If we don’t, please attend the next GLOW (Growing, Leading Ourselves Whole) meeting on August 18, 2024, at 12:15pm, and let’s all talk about it!

Additionally, please consider reviewing the included Board minutes for April, May, and June.  The July Board minutes will be approved at the August Board meeting, and subsequently published in the September edition of the Meridian. Future Board minutes will be featured in the Meridian following that pattern.

Thank you for taking the time to read this piece. Please trust me when I say – we, the Board, are supporting this church community to the best of our ability. I hope you find your passion and allow us all to join you on your journey.

Sincerely,

/s/ Chase Den Beste
