Green Sanctuary’s Food for Thought: November 2024

It’s that time of year when the leaves say farewell to the branches and the piercing autumn sun, now lowering in the sky, demands that you wear your sunglasses. As El Día de los Muertos has now passed, and our ancestors have been acknowledged, another month has passed, and it is time for our monthly Food for Thought gathering at church. But wait, let’s have a church-wide potluck instead of a meeting.

As this begins the traditional month of giving thanks and celebrating the harvest, instead of our meeting, we would like to invite the entire church to a Vegetarian/Vegan Potluck after the Sunday service on November 10th. So, please bring your climate-friendly recipes to share with all. Vegan dishes do not have any animal products in them at all, but vegetarian dishes may include dairy products and eggs but no meats. Please label your dish and, if you’d like, share your recipe on a card by your dish. You can also bring drinks, such as iced tea or lemonade.

For the potluck, please remember that a number of tasks are required of participants including: setting up and taking down the white tables from the veranda closet; moving chairs to the tables and then resetting the chairs in Sunday Service arrangement; helping to arrange plates, napkins, utensils, cups and ice on the tables; placing food out for serving; cleaning off serving tables; returning plates, etc. to the kitchen; cleaning dishes & placing in dishwasher; and tidying the kitchen and replacing items where they belong.

If anyone needs to consult a resource to help with making a vegetarian or vegan dish, try out these links. They provide plenty of options.
