The co-leaders of our local Building Healthy Communities chapter have initiated an Advisory Group made up of local doctors, clinicians, and community leaders that will help guide our chapter as we move ahead. We’ve already had one meeting and will be meeting monthly until early next year when we hope to hold our first general meeting for all members. Our Tallahassee chapter’s official name will be “Tallahassee Living Healthy” with the first letters of each word in the new name (TLH) being quite familiar to us here in Tallahassee. We’re also working on a logo we hope to share in the near future that I think you will all like.
As always, our mission will be to inform all whom we reach with the significance of the Six Pillars of Lifestyle Medicine (Good Nutrition, Exercise, Stress Management, Sleep Quality, Social Connection, and Avoidance of Risky Substances) and focus specifically on demonstrating the health benefits of a whole foods plant-based diet composed of Fruits, Vegetables, Whole Grains, and Legumes/Beans. Together we’ll all be taking a journey along the dietary spectrum toward a healthier plant-based diet shown below.

With the holiday season bearing down on us all, what better addition to your resource library could there be than a recipe book for Thanksgiving. It was prepared by the CRM (Physician’s Committee for Responsible Medicine) and is filled with tasty holiday recipes all made with the healthy ingredients. That’s right, this recipe book is filled with plant-based main dishes, sides, and desserts that will not only keep your family fiber fueled but well on their way to moving in the direction of a healthier plant forward approach to meal prep. It’s a journey along the dietary spectrum shown above. Every step you take will move you and our planet toward a healthier future. So, enjoy these recipes and share them with your friends and families.
I hope that everyone has a Spooktacular Halloween and a wonderful upcoming holiday season, and as one of your six pillars advises, let’s all stay connected.
All the Best, Ed, Linda, Robin, and Georgia
