As we work with our allies in Black congregations to address racial inequities in our community, we do so against a local history of civil rights activism. People with whom we toil have family who lived those times. Those experiences deserve our appreciation and our apprehension that while some tactics have changed, overcoming racial inequities still requires disturbing the peace.
