REORGANIZE, REUSE, RECYCLE, REPURPOSE: A Summer Activity for Adults

This month I added “reorganize” to our list of “re’s”.

Items that you might have around that you would like to share can be dropped off at the locations below or brought to UUCT and we will “rehome” them.

  • Insulated cups (preferably with lids): Manna will put them on the “free” table
  • Plastic medication bottles with childproof lids: Some will be delivered to Animal
Aid on Boone Blvd; others will be donated to a medical mission group (as time
approaches for the group to go on mission). All can be dropped at UUCT
  • Extra fabric, sheets and pillow cases: Kandy Crowe has a group that makes these
into pillows for breast cancer patients. Can be dropped at UUCT
  • Plastic cutlery: Used by Grace Mission and Kearney Center
  • Egg Cartons: Used by individuals who have chickens
  • Black nursery pots (any size): Used by people who enjoy growing plants and
    sharing
  • Brown paper grocery bags (leave them doubled): Manna uses these for dry goods
for our neighbors each month. It takes 500 individual bags each month to make
the 250+ bags of groceries that Manna packs. Not having to purchase these bags
at a minimum of 12 cents per bag is a savings
  • Reuseable grocery bags (those in the bottom of your trunk or back seat): Manna
uses 250 per month to provide produce for our neighbors. Cool, fun fact: each
month at least 50 reuseable bags are returned by our neighbors. Manna
volunteers wash them and they are used again

As we begin planning for cooler weather, consider putting those extra jackets, sweaters, coats, and blankets in a bag. Most not for profits do not have space for storage right now, but as soon as it gets cooler, they will be taken off your hands.

Have an extra fan you won’t use but is too good to throw away? Drop at Elder Care Services on W. Tennessee or bring to UUCT and it will be dropped off there.

ON THE FLIP SIDE

If there are any of these items you can use or re-home, feel free to take them when you see them at UUCT or give me a text (850-443-7807) and we will make sure that you get them. If you think of other reuseables that we should be asking for, let’s add them to the list!

THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU CONTINUE TO DO.
