Message from the DRE: Reclaiming Joy

Hello friends and happy June!

This month is all about renewal, and in RE, we’ll especially be focusing on reclaiming joy. Here’s a couple of ways how…

This Summer, Sunday Youth RE will look like a Makerspace in Room 2. This means we will emphasize child-centered and exploratory crafting, playing, and problem-solving. This might include sewing, crafting, cardboard construction, building, and more.

This Summer Exploration Space will be appropriate for participants of all ages and will explore an intergen model of Sunday RE. We need volunteers for Sundays!

I’m also collecting some recycled materials for this Makerspace exploration: cellophane and clean plastic sheets, clean used plastic water bottles, junk mail and old magazines, and embroidery and yarn needles.

Mini Harmony Camp will be happening from 7/1 – 7/3. Children entering grades K-6 are invited to participate in the 2024 Mini Harmony Camp from 7/1 – 7/3. Camp registration is $140. Scholarships are available for families who may need support. Please note that we have a limited number of spots for campers: if we reach capacity, additional campers will be placed on a waitlist as we determine whether we can accommodate a larger group.

Camp is from 9am – 4pm. Early drop-off and/or late pick-up can be added for an additional small fee. Campers entering grades K – 6 can be registered here.

Youth entering grades 7 – 12 can apply to be Junior Counselor volunteers here. Adult counselors and volunteers can email me at religious.exploration@uutallahassee.org to be added to MHC communications.
