Board Notes: May 2023

An interesting meeting, as always!

The Nominating Committee reported that the committee was able to offer our General Assembly delegates partial financial assistance for their registration fees. This support is part of the committee’s leadership development initiative. Two of our delegates are attending GA for the first time!

Carolyn Dubard, representing the committee, also updated the Board on the continuing search for a board secretary candidate. If you are interested, contact the Nominating Committee at nominating@uutallahassee.org to learn more.

As mentioned at the May 21 congregational meeting, a vacant position can be filled by Board appointment. The congregation would vote on the appointment at the next congregational meeting.

At its May 25th regular meeting, the Board approved:

  • Extending an offer to an excellent candidate for the Director of Religious Exploration position. (Yay!)
  • Offering UUCT as a volunteer hub for pickup and drop-off of petitions supporting a proposed Florida constitutional amendment entitled “Amendment to Limit Government Interference with Abortion.”
  • Transitioning Samina Fuller, the UUCT AV multi-platform specialist, to a staff position for FY 2023-2024.
  • Extending Reverend Holly’s contract through July (the current contract ends June 30, the end of the current fiscal year).
  • Assembling a team with the charge to oversee the ministries of UUCT in case there is a gap in professional ministry between the departure of Rev. Holly and the arrival of a contract minister.
  • The consent agenda: April minutes, April financial reports, confirmation of two E-votes:

Any congregant is welcome to address the Board at its online meeting or attend as an observer. The next meeting is on Wednesday June 28 at 6:30 (rescheduled to avoid conflict with the UUA General Assembly).
