What? Why are these spaces being blessed? Well, why not?
A few congregants donated to the Capital Improvement Fund during the 2025/2026 fiscal year, and volunteers were able to fix up the bathrooms by the Sanctuary and replace the maintenance shed in the overflow parking lot. These two projects were on the UUCT Capital Improvement Committee’s list for YEARS! It was nice to finally have enough funds to do both projects this year. Blessing these spaces gives everyone the opportunity to see these spaces and realize the impact that donations can make at UUCT. Time will be set aside after the June 7th church community service to bless these two spaces and to thank our donors and volunteers.
Now, regarding the playgrounds, the tot lot received more love than the large playground this year. A group of college students visited UUCT a few months ago and cleaned out the tot lot by pulling up old tree roots and weeds, spreading new mulch, cleaning the fence, and painting the play equipment. At one of our church workdays, members from the homeschool group and another group cleaned items in the large playground and spread mulch. The fence does need some work, and it is probably time to start looking for another item to add to the large playground and to reconsider a better design of the low wall structures. If you would like to donate toward a playground renovation, the church already has an established Playground Fund, and donations can be made in the usual way—just note the Playground Fund for your donation. The playgrounds will get a “Bubble” blessing on June 7th. (Members/parents/kids are welcome to contribute ideas for playground improvement.)
