Capital Area Justice Ministry (CAJM) Puts Love into Action

After over 3 years of organizing, researching, relationship-building, and pressuring, CAJM persuaded the County Commission to develop the FIRST affordable rental housing project targeted at people exiting homelessness. By the time that this newsletter goes out, we will have shown up with our green shirts at the County Commission meeting on January 27 where the vote to ratify funding for this project is on the agenda.. Thank you to our UUCT members who attended to keep the momentum alive on affordable housing.

Let’s keep the pressure on for more wins! The CAJM Nehemiah Action Event is April 21 from 6 to 8 pm at the Old West Florida Enrichment Center at 2344 Lake Bradford Road. With a planned attendance of 1,200, this event is where we thank our leaders for their positive actions and present proposals for our next wins. This is a call to action! We need every UUCT member to attend! In late February through March, you may be called by a UUCT CAJM Network Member to ask for your support. Please put this event on your calendar.

CAJM’s 2026 Issues are Affordable Rental HousingFood & HungerGun Violence, Mental Health, and Immigration. Strategy teams for these issues are meeting to organize, research, and develop proposals for proven strategies. Go to the CAJM website at https://www.capitalareajustice.org/ to learn more and get involved on a strategy team.
