Who says climate change hasn’t changed weather patterns around the world and our state for that matter? Certainly not those in the path of the latest Category 4 hurricane that slammed into Florida’s Big Bend on Thursday evening September 26th. I hope everyone is faring ok in the aftermath of that event. I know that Tallahassee was very fortunate that the storm changed course at the last minute and spared us the extensive damage done to those to our east. Our thoughts are with them. May our support to them provide a cushion as they rebuild. Please consider donating or volunteering where possible.
With that said, it’s time for another Food for Life monthly discussion. This month we will have two main items on our agenda; first, a debrief of our recently held church-wide Climate Justice Revival and second, as a follow on to our Climate Justice Revival, several resource readings that will touch on issues relevant to Climate Justice and cover, overlooked risks of animal agriculture, urban heat island effects, and how hunger affects native American communities.
Our meeting will be held as usual on the second Sunday of the month (October 13th) at 12:30pm to 2:00pm in Room L. I hope to see you all there.
