Last April, our congregation voted in favor of pursuing the search for a Developmental Minister to fill the position that will be vacated when Rev. Holly Brown completes their Interim Ministry in July 2023. In May, past Board President Brian Lee and Rev. Holly Brown met with Christine Purcell from the UUA Transitions Office and Cameron Young from the UUA Southern Region Staff to learn more about the process.
Members selected for the committee are Len Adams, Sally Andersen, Chase Den Beste, Laura Den Beste, and Janet Temkin. The committee spent the month of January completing the Congregational Record (CR), which is an online portfolio coordinated through the UUA containing information about the position, and detailed information about the congregation and community.
Now that the CR has been submitted, the committee has a few weeks to establish, prepare for, and polish the interviewing process.
Throughout this same period, the developmental minister candidates will read through the CRs submitted by each church in the Developmental Minister search process and indicate in which churches they have interest by March 4. Those candidates’ names will be released to the search committee on March 11, at which time the committee begins reading about each candidate and deciding which ones to interview. Once all of the interviews are complete, the search committee submits a ranked list of candidates to the UUA Transitions Office by March 28. The ministers in the search process also submit their ranked list of churches. The Transitions director will figure out the highest-ranking match for everyone. The name of the highest ranking candidate will be released to The Board for approval at the end of March. Offers are made to candidates on April 1.
